Sneak Peek: 2020 Lexus LC Convertible

The Lexus LC Convertible Concept was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Lexus has not yet given a commitment, but they hinted that they would like to see this concept go into production. Lexus Stevens Creek in San Jose will gladly open its arms to this eye-catching LC Convertible.

Design

Can you imagine the stunning Lexus LC 500 coupe transformed into a convertible? If our wish comes true, Lexus will put this concept into production by the end of 2019. If and when this goes into production, Lexus predicts that half of the LC buyers will opt for the convertible version. The LC 500 coupe would be redesigned into an open-air roadster with a vaguely taller and flatter rear deck to handle the droptop. The body will be designed with beautiful contours and a wide stance, featuring 22-inch wheels, and exclusive white leather-trimmed seats with gold accent stitching.

Performance

The expectation for the LC Convertible would be the use of the same 5.0-liter V8 engine coupled with a ten-speed automatic transmission which powers the LC 500 coupe. This powertrain churns out 471-hp and 398 lb-ft of torque which can get you 0 – 60 mph in a mere 4.4 seconds. This speed could be slowed down a bit with a drop top, so the expectation is most likely 0 – 60 mph in 4.7 seconds with a top track speed of 168 mph. There is no commitment as to whether or not this fabulous convertible will also be available in a hybrid version. If Lexus takes the step to offer the hybrid derivative, it will be the only gas-electric convertible model on the market.

Pricing

The 2019 LC Coupe has a starting MSRP of $92,300, and the expectation would be that the convertible will demand several thousands more. So, expect a starting price of around $100,000 MSRP.
