    Review: 2019 Lexus LS 500h

    The 2019 Lexus LS 500h, the first multistage hybrid luxury sedan, delivers one of the most poised and engaging driving experiences around.     Performance

    A 354-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine with dual electric motors and a self-charging lightweight lithium-ion battery power the LS 500h. A multistage electronically controlled continuously variable transmission is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. The standard rear-wheel drivetrain accomplishes 0 – 60 mph in 5.1 seconds with a top track speed of 136 mph and earns an estimated 33 mpg highway and 25 mpg city. Drive modes consist of Normal, Sport, ECO, EV, and Manual. Optional features include all-wheel drive, a Torsen® limited-slip center differential, and an adaptive variable air suspension.

    Comfort and Convenience

    Leather seating with heated and ventilated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, power rear sunshade, moonroof, dual-zone climate control, voice command, Apple CarPlay®, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a hands-free power trunk are standard features. Semi-aniline leather seats, 28-way and 22-way power-adjustable front and rear seats respectively, butterfly power-retractable front headrests, power-reclining rear seats with butterfly headrests, massage settings in both the front and rear seats, an extendable right-rear ottoman, and the Lexus Climate Concierge four-zone climate control are available.

    Safety

    The Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 brings safety to the forefront with standard lane departure alert with steering assist, intelligent high beams, traffic sign recognition, lane tracing assist, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, all-speed dynamic radar cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. An advanced 10-airbag system, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic braking, intuitive parking assist with auto braking, and smart stop technology are also standard. Available safety features include a 24-inch full-color head-up display and a panoramic view monitor utilizing four high-resolution cameras.
