    Review: 2018 Lexus LS

    The Lexus LS 500 has a new twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with a new 10-speed automatic transmission and is available in either rear or all-wheel drive. The new V6 produces 416 horsepower, 6,000 RPM, and 442 lb-ft of torque, and is recommended to run on premium unleaded fuel. Lexus quotes that the LS 500 can go from 0-60 MPH in 4.6 seconds with a maximum speed of 136 MPH. The 10-speed automatic transmission that the LS 500 is equipped with paddle shifters. Fuel efficiency ratings range as high as 29 mpg/highway. The Lexus LS F Sport gives drivers a sportier ride and is built on performance.

    Lexus also offers the LS model as a Hybrid in the Lexus LS Hybrid. The LS Hybrid is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 hooked up to two electric motors, a 44-kw lithium-ion battery, and a 4-speed automatic transmission. One motor is focused on moving the car at lower speeds, and the second motor kicks in at higher speeds. Fuel economy averages 33 mpg/highway.


    The Lexus LS 500 will come with the usual power features, cruise control, leather, climate control, as well as, navigation, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, active noise cancellation, 12.3” display screen touchpad infotainment system with voice command to run phone, navigation and audio systems, and 19-inch wheels.


    The Lexus LS comes standard with a plethora of safety features including, forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, auto high beams, and adaptive cruise control. The optional Advanced Safety package adds a pedestrian detection system with active steering which is capable of avoiding obstacles at low speeds. Lexus also offers an HD head-up display that casts information across the bottom of the windshield.
