Review: 2017 Lexus RC F

The performance-focused sports coupe segment is no longer dominated by the Germans, as Lexus has engineered a model worthy of even the most serious drivers. Plus, you can still expect top safety ratings and a distinctively sophisticated, comfortable cabin.

The RC F is the most powerful in the 2017 Lexus RC lineup. It features a 467-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to an 8-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission, and comes available with a Torque Vectoring Differential with Slalom, Track, and Standard modes. The rear-wheel drive coupe features Brembo brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, and can take you from zero to 60 in 4.4 seconds, with a maximum speed of 168 MPH.

All models feature a TORSEN limited-slip rear differential, speed-activated rear wing, F-Adaptive Variable Suspension, paddle shifters, Drive Mode Select with Sport S/S+ mode, and LFA-inspired instrumentation, including a G-force display and lap timer. The Performance Package adds a carbon fiber speed-activated rear wing and roof, as well as the Torque Vectoring Differential.

Safety and Tech

The 2017 Lexus RC F comes standard with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Scout GPS Link navigation, backup camera, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth wireless, and Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management. Additionally, all models are equipped with the Lexus Enform Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote apps, and come available with premium triple-beam LED headlamps, Intuitive Parking Assist, Pre-Collision System, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The Navigation Package adds a Navigation System with color multimedia display and DVD player, Remote Touchpad controls, voice command, Lexus Enform App Suite, and Lexus Enform Destinations. The All-Weather Package gives you a windshield wiper de-icer, headlamp washers, and a heated steering wheel.

Comfort and Convenience

You don’t need to sacrifice comfort for performance, and the RC F is proof. All models come standard with NuLuxe interior trim, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, 8-way power passenger’s seat, rear-seat armrest with trunk pass-through, Lexus Display Audio, and a Premium 10-speaker Sound System. You can also add a power moonroof and leather interior trim as individual options.

The Premium Package adds Black Carbon Fiber interior trim, heated and ventilated front seats, Lexus Memory System for driver’s seat and mirrors, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, Intuitive Parking Assist, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Navigation/Mark Levinson Audio Package gives you Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound Audio with 17 speakers, class-D amplifier, Clari-Fi audio processing, auto-volume tech, and machined aluminum control knobs.
